Other civilisations have similar systems of belief that are part of time-keeping systems like almanacs. Once I started questioning the basic premise of this, over the years, it has become really obvious that astrology is a pile of crock. ![]() So, in effect, how do we correct for subtle changes in positions that might have a cycle of >1000 years? If light takes different lengths of time to reach our planet from other bodies depending on how far away from us they are, astrology is considering the positions of objects x minutes/hours/days/years away. How can a planet or a star that barely exerts any influence on larger objects on Earth possibly affect humans?Ģ. So, the next time I was in a conversation about astrology, two questions immediately came up to question the basic premise of it:ġ. Around then, I learnt about how big the known universe actually is (let alone our galaxy), and how long light takes to travel to Earth from different stars/planets etc. I grew up with my parents believing in it, and never really questioned it till I was 11-12.
